One of the first illustration projects I ever worked was the "owner's manual" series for Quirk Books. This was a collaborative project with Paul Kepple (Headcase Design) and the success of the first book in the series, The Baby Owner's Manual, launched ten spinoff books and numerous other products.
The basic premise of the first book was to create a baby care book that took a more humorous approach, using the visual elements and language of an appliance manual.
The book was such a huge success that, in addition to the 10 different spinoff titles, it also spawned other products, such as The Baby Owner's Starter Kit, The Baby Owner's Maintenance Log, and The Baby Owner's Games and Activities Book.
