As a kid growing up in the 80s, one of the things I remember the most were the toys and the cartoons. Or more accurately, the toys and the half-hour animated commercials for those toys. Some of the cartoons, like Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite, were also used to promote stationary and greeting cards. For The Autumn Society's "80s Pop!" exhibition, I thought it would be fun to pit these cartoon characters, essentially spokespersons for their respective industries (greeting cards, teddy bears, etc) against each other, Mortal Kombat-style.

To really give them the proper eighties feel, I even hand painted the frames purple.
